What is Community Solar?

Did you know that 80% of American households cannot get rooftop solar?

Community solar allows anyone to access the benefits of solar power - without installing solar panels on your roof and or paying any  upfront costs.   Whether you rent or own, you can get the benefits of solar energy by signing up for community solar!

You will join a local solar farm, with no installation fee or upfront payment requirements, and start saving money on your electric bill, while going green and supporting your local economy.
You do not have to switch your energy supplier, and you don’t need to install anything at your home. Community Solar allows you to save money on your electric bill and support local solar with no risk.

How does it work?

Enroll

We help you enroll in a solar farm in your community. The farm will produce clean renewable energy on your behalf year round.

Harvest

The solar energy produced on your behalf is sent directly to your electric bill as a monetary credit reducing the amount you pay to Eversource. In the next month, you pay $0.80 for every dollar or credit you received.
Enjoy

That’s it! You are now getting clean and affordable renewable energy directly in your home.
You will have 2 energy bills, but you'll be paying less! You will never pay for solar credits that haven’t already been applied to your bill, and the savings will always appear on your bill before you pay.

Benefits

Save 20% on your electric bills, risk-free
No physical changes to your home
No switching your electric supplier
Support more solar energy in Massachusetts!

Do you qualify?

The generous benefits of this program are possible because of Massachusetts incentives designed to ensure low-to-moderate income communities can participate. There are two ways to qualify:
Picture
Be on the discounted electric rate (R2) from Eversource (if you participate in fuel assistance or SNAP, you probably are on the R2 rate. We can verify this with your Eversource account number)
Live in an income-qualified Environmental Justice Community (Provide your address and we’ll look it up for you)
That’s it! It’s okay if you’re a renter and there is no credit check.
