C-Heat project

C-HEAT is collaboration between Boston University and GreenRoots Chelsea. The goal of the study is to empower the Chelsea Creek Environmental Justice Communities, by building their capacity to respond to extreme heat events for their most vulnerable populations.  

Why is C-HEAT focusing on Chelsea and East Boston? 

These two areas are identified as high-risk to the effects of extreme urban temperatures and are considered urban heat islands because they reach temperatures that are hotter than the neighboring  areas. 

Why is extreme heat important for health?

Extreme heat is public health concern. It can cause or worsen heat related illnesses like heart or respiratory diseases.

C-HEAT es una colaboración entre la Universidad de Boston y GreenRoots Chelsea. El objetivo del estudio es empoderar a las Comunidades de Justicia Ambiental de Chelsea Creek, mediante el desarrollo de su capacidad para responder a los eventos de calor extremo para sus poblaciones más vulnerables.
